Christmas arrives up the Riverside

The 19th of November might have been a bit early to start the Christmas rush according to the opinion poll in the Gurn sidebar but St Andrew's day seems to appropriate for the Riverside Christmas tree. One of our riverside correspondents sent this picture of some of the regular walkers gathered at the (now) traditional walkers festive tree.

Also a pic in from Stephen

  1. Can anybody on the Gurn tell me a update on the Firhall Bridge as i dont see anybody offering to help Murd in his defence to buid a ramp for people that are disabled young and old. I cant understand why havent any of the local Councilors given him there backing as it is for a genuine cause and the bridge would be used by disabled people more often and it would give them a better chance to get around the riverside to there advantage. I was fishing down the river this year and saw that some children were being taken for a walk around the riverside and they were getting a talk about the riverside by a Guide. One of the children was disabled in a wheelchair and the Carer or Helper had to walk all the way to the other side of the river because she couldnt take the disabled child in the wheelchair over the bridge. I felt really sorry for the child for having to go through this and the person that was looking after her. Keep on trying Murd and dont give up even if you dont get the support you deserve at least your heart is in the right place.

  2. Thank you for your support R. I am still actively campaigning for the ramp to the best of my ability. The Provost is trying to get local help to build the ramp and if that can proceed myself and other supporters will seek help of local companies in donations of materials (free or at cost price) and also see if the local authority can draw up the final design. It's what they call the Big Society and I'm sure Nairn will rally round and we can get this done for minimal cost to the tax payer.

  3. Are Murd & The Merry Mannies singing Christmas Carols this year they should go round the town belting out some festive favourites & release a Chrimbo Party Sing a Long CD which will knock the X Factor CD of the top of the charts & raise loads of money which could go towards the cost for the ramps, Ps Colin MacAulay's rendition of Silent Night will bring a tear to your eye & a lump to your throat, & when Jock Schneider sings Frosty the Snowman you just cant help yourself & join in the chorus. Good luck Murd you deserve it, hope your wishes come true for 2013& a the ramps get built.

I seem to remember that some of the prospective councillor's were supportive of Murd's idea prior to the election, but they seem to have gone quiet on that since then.
