Opposition letting Dave Stewart slip through the middle?

Despite a slump in Labour support their candidate in this constituency could slip through the middle and continuing his voting record of supporting Tony Blair. This blog has always thought the Libs’ claim to be ahead in this constituency should be taken with a pinch of salt and the polling done by the P&J in Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey indicates that things are quite different.
Canvassers for Dave Thomson, the SNP candidate were reporting a very good response in Nairn and it seems on the P&J figures that they are repeated across the constituency. So it’s neck and neck to the finish with a massive amount of voters undecided.

It is no secret that this blog supports Dave Thomson and urges all who want to see the labour member deposed to support the SNP candidate.

  1. Interesting to see that there is trust amongst some voters

Maybe the Blog needs something similar if it is agreed that we should be aiming to oust Mr Stewart?

  2. I agree iright just checked them out but they say:
'These are voting figures for the old constituency boundaries in 2001. Only three of the old seats met our rules for recommending a tactical vote, and two of those have disappeared, so we are not making recommendations in Scotland this time.'

Unpredictable or what? This democracy we live in is a real mess – everyone searching for the nearest thing to what they really want to vote for – jus ‘kindam crazy.

  3. The "notional" figures for 2001 are very inaccurate in rural areas, because the academics who did the surveys used local council results in their sums. Where there are a lot of Independent councillors this made their analysis useless.

These published "notional" figures are thus a very rough guide indeed. They are not God's Honest Truth.
