Million pound boost to Nairnshire dairy farming

Good news for dairy farming and the Claymore creamary as the Scottish Goverments announces the Rural Priorities Scheme awards. The Press and Journal reports:
'Drumduan Farm, near Nairn, run by C Innes and Sons, has been awarded £1million to expand a dairy herd from 700 to 1,200 cows.
The money will also be used to build a new dairy parlour and ensure that nearby Claymore Creamery remains in business.'

  2. The 60k was out of the Inverness Common Good fund. It seems to have provoked outrage in Inverness. 43 comments on a previous courier web page and a new article is now attracting more of the same.
The worry in Nairn is that Highland Council controls our Common Good Fund, there was talk of allowing others in the town into the decision making process but nothing has been heard about that for a while. Incidently a paper on Common Good Funds was being discussed at the HC resources committee meeting today.
If time permits we'll get round to linking to some of this.
    Cheers Alec

Aye, I've written a suitably outraged letter to my local councillor (in the context of increased letting fees at Thurso High School). As I understand it, SHE won't even commit to revealing how many children will pass through.
