Strippers at the Ballerina?

The Sun is a bit excited today about a new Pink Floyd iphone app.

"And after their gig at the Ballerina Ballroom in the Highland town of Nairn on July 21, 1967, the fed-up owner stopped booking live music acts — to stage strippers instead." More details here.

Regarding the Sun article. I wonder if the situations at the Ballerina in Nairn and The Two red Shoes in Elgin are being transposed. There continued to be big names appearing at Nairn in 1967 whereas this was not the case in Elgin. For reference please see http://ballerinaballroom.wordpress.com/

The Sun feature is grossly inaccurate dont know where they got their information from, dance promoter Elgin based Albert Boninci
never ever put on strip shows at any venue, & as for the statement that no famous bands played at The Ballerina what utter tosh I know it was the late sixties but my hearing may have suffered listening to the bands on stage every friday night & The Ballers but the eye sight & memory are still sound the thrill of seeing acts Status Quo, Slade,Fleetwood Mac,The Writing on the Wall,Beggars Opera,The Herd, Juicy Lucy, Hot Chocolate, String Driven Thing,Geno Washington, Pickety Witch, Chicken Shack, yes The Bay City Rollers,Manfred Man,The Small Faces who never turned up,Hermins Hermits with no Herman,Pink Floyd, Cream, Tear gas & local bands My Dear Watson from Buckie, & Willer Miller from Elgin & many other bands who appeared through out The Highland & the North East of Scotland all promoted by Albert Boninci, nae bad for a wee fat mannie fae Elgin. PS he also booked a band you might of heard of called the Beatles.

History records that The Beatles (The Silver Beetles) played at the Regal Ballroom on Friday 27 May 1960 as support on the Johnny Gentle tour. The lineup include John, Paul, George, Stuart Sutcliffe and drummer Tommy Moore. I wonder if any Gurnites attended the gig. On the same tour they appeared at Alloa, Inverness, Fraserburgh, Keith, Forres, and Peterheid.
