Parkour problems in Society Street

"Police have said teenagers running and jumping across roofs in one of the oldest parts of Nairn, near Inverness, face prosecution. Northern Constabulary said calls about the activity in Fishertown had been on the increase." More on the BBC webpages.

  1. How extraordinary. Is this the same phenomenon as street running, or wall climbing or road running? I am very sure there is a name for this. Didn't Madonna make a video featuring young people enjoying themselves in this way? I seem to remember she did...

Oh - Hang on - FREE running! Phew!!

And here was me thinking it was just Mr Sharpe carrying out a few late night repairs to my roof

Are we not supposed to be encouraging our kids to get off their X-boxes and do something active outdoors ?

  4. I wonder if the poilis have been to Oor Graham?

"Nick Clegg told Liberal Democrats to "stop looking back" and start "shouting our achievements from the rooftops" in a speech to rally party activists."

Love the way that most of the images or footage isn't in, or anywhere near, Nairn. Let's not glamourise this, it's just a bunch of young loons jumping on and off folks roofs and it's only a matter of time when one of them does themselves, or one of the roofs, an injury.

  6. Ah well, young blood will out, one way or t'other. I for one would gladly sacrifice a tile or two, if it keeps them off the harder stuff. Perhaps I will put a mattress out for them. Call me an old fashioned sentimentalist, if you will. Toodle Woo. P xx

Pookie, you're lowering your admirable high standards by trying to catch young loons out for a night on the tiles with the irresistible offer of your mattress! If my bones weren't so old I too would be dancing in the moonlight upon your ample roof
