Sunday afternoon - culture in Nairn - Tales of the riverbank

Images from Tez Watson. Tez told the Gurn:
"About thirty people attended the event co-organised by The Pen & I (Nairn) and forWORDS (Forres) two local writing groups, numerous passers-by stopped and listened... no doubt our chosen favourite verses tied to the trees/bushes, etc will catch the eye as well as the wind and intrigue some people.."

Bairns leave their comments and writing around the town and it's illegal graffiti. Organise it into a festival and it's art

I hope they took plenty bottles of cider and buckie to enjoy their time by the river

At least we can relax now that the yearly dose of imported culture has finished for this year. The little pinky can now come down, I can put away my off white suit, and I don't have to worry about being seen or being there. A few days gathered with the chattering classes some of whom have lived in Nairn long enough to remember such cultural high points as the Big Shop. The small fish out of their cultural comfort zone will have to learn to swim with the mundane currents of ordinary citizens for another year

  4. @ Banksy: It looks like it was a free event too - if this observer had known about it we would have put it up on the Gurn.
    Still maybe next year.

a very enjoyable afternoon, by one of the many beauty spots that nairn riverside has to offer, and not all of the culture was imported, one or two were local, born and bred, and the others all live in our bonny wee town

I'm no stranger to seeing young our young people enjoying themselves along by the riverbank. The only item they import is booze from the supermarkets, otherwise all are local bred and born, and those that can afford it live in our bonny wee town
