And then there were fireworks...

at the Christmas Lights switch on celebrations.

and then came the Penguin's Tuxedo band

Well done all the volunteers and performers who made this possible, both the familiar faces who contributed to the event and the new wave of Nairn's social media based activists - "a Volunteer Army" is a phrase used by Cllr Michael Green to describe this community activism.

Cutter Photography have posted some images from last night, they are available on Facebook here. When time permits this weekend we will have a browse of the pictures we took last night and see if any of them are decent enough to put online.

Confused here. Were the fireworks to mark the end of Thanksgiving by any chance? Our holidays and celebrations seem to come from many cultures and traditions these days. I still remember my father working Christmas morning, now it seems to be a two week winter holiday for many folk and little to do with any religious celebration

  2. Personally anon, thought it a great end to "Buy nothing Friday" that ourselves and a few other Gurnites were observing.

Thanks to all who worked so hard to give local people a really entertaining evening. The children just loved it. A safe, friendly and happy time had by all. So pleased we didn't have to go to Forres or Inverness for our fireworks display this year. Thank you all again!

Agree with first Anonymous! Not all children loved it, pets(not forewarned) were again terrorised - me too!
