Time for Inverness to have its own local authority so the rest of the Highlands can "receive the representation more suited to communities' unique needs".?

This observer suspects that Gail Ross's statement in the Scottish Parliament would find considerable sympathy in Nairn and also Andy Wightman's follow up response on twitter. Inverness now too big to allow effective local democracy elsewhere in the Highlands?

Bring it on, I for one am at the end of my rope fighting to ensure Nairn sees Community Empowerment take effect.

Nairns position with Inverness mirrors that of Holyrood and Westminster. The highland council has a huge bias towards Inverness and has turned their collective backs to Nairnshire especially and probably most of the rest of the region. Still waiting for a return visit from the CEO more than a year after the last one where she admitted Nairn was having a bad deal from the council. Nairn could make a decent fist of running things - at least as badly as the current mob after their recent slating by the audit team.

I know one of our four elected Councillors will be delighted to read those comments. He has been calling for the Nairn Council to be resurrected for the reasons the two MSP's stated!

Community Empowerment Act - Mmhh!! A big work In Progress as far as Highland Council is concerned!

The old 8 District Council areas worked pretty well ...... any mistakes (and there were some wowsers) were of our own making ..... Perhaps the CCs could host a public debate? Gail Ross, Rob Gibson, Richard Laird, Lesley Riddoch, Andy Wightman ...... and even our own Provost. A sovereign citizens' Republic of Nairnshire .... :-)
