Danny needs some spin - Now?

"This really isn't a bypass. Why isn't Danny lobbying for Nairn?" Asks Green Dad on twitter. Green Dad has mentioned before his belief that the proposed Inverness by-pass really is a relief road and not the full monty. Danny has waded in however, telling the Scottish Government what they should do. Yeah Danny, how about a big shout for Nairn too then? The West CC wouldn't need to campaign for Access Only signs if we had a by-pass (see post below).

It is now over a year since the LibDems last posted anything on their "Nairn needs a by-pass Now" site. Maybe Danny's hopes of re-election next time round are looking as faded as some of the car-stickers they dished out back in February 2009 when they launched their by-pass campaign. Danny needs some spin - now?

Andy Wightman Common Good Campaigner heading for Inverness on by-pass issue

"Give the folk of Inverness their land back. Let them have their say in a referendum," tweets Andy Wightman. Andy is the author of "The Poor had no Lawyers" a book incidently, that was recommended to this observer by none other than our very own usual suspect, Alistair Noble. "Highland Council are proposing to build a new road – the West Link– to provide a southern bypass for Inverness and allow traffic travelling from the A82 to the A9 and vice-versa to avoid the town centre. I have no view on the merits or otherwise of the proposal or any of the particular options. I do, however, have a view on the fact that Highland Council are in a state of denial that part of the land required for the new road belongs to the Common good Fund of the Royal Burgh of Inverness. This does not, of itself, prevent a road being built but it may require the Council to seek the approval of the courts and would certainly entitle the Common Good Fund to be receive a capital sum by way of compensation. Greendad isn't pleased at all with the concept of the Inverness by-pass, "When's a bypass not a bypass," he asks. Can't help but wonder if he has a point. Do we as Nairn Council taxpayers help contribute to the Inverness by-pass which will be built by Highland Council yet have to wait for the Scottish Government to build ours? Common Good campaigner Andy Wightman also has some thoughts on the proposed Inverness bypass and Highland Council will probably not be too happy to hear them!
