Could have easily been seven - apologies from the referee according to word on the street. Never mind football finally returned to Nairn after the big freeze and Ronnie starts his Saturday night with a bigger smile than Harry Redknapp's. Nairn Saint Ninian 6 Whitehills FC 0. More pictures later.

Nairn versus Buckie is off - severe frost on the park. Nothing doing at the Showfield today either as Nairn St Ninian v RAF Lossiemouth is frozen out as well.

St Ninian came away with a 1 – 0 win. All in all, plenty of action in both goal mouths but, apart from the one goal, neither team were able to take advantage from their efforts by hitting the back of the net during the rest of the match. Three useful points for Saints. More pictures to follow.

Nairn St Ninian 0 - Lanark 3

On a gusty day at the Showfield, Nairn faced Lanark in the third round of the Emirates Scottish Junior Cup. Most of the action was restricted to midfield with each team having the occasional foray into the opposition’s goal mouth. Midway through the second half Lanark scored the first, quickly followed by another two goals. The referee seemed to be taking advantage of the windy conditions to give his cards a good airing throughout the game, particularly the yellow, there seemed to be little other explanation as to why he kept on waving them about! Final score was 0-3 to Lanark. More pictures now available here.

Saints cup joy down south!

If you'd been up the High Street early for your papers you would have got a glimpse of Nairn St Ninian setting off for the mammoth trek to Rosyth in the Scottish Junior Cup. A very sporting gesture by Rosyth FC in their tweet this evening then. Well done Saints!

County stay top - St Ninian through in Scottish Junior Cup

Help St Ninian FC - find the flag

Another request today, this time from Colin Black he requests Gurnites for help:

Can you ask your readers if they can help find the League Championship flag the once flew up at the Showfield for Nairn ST Ninian.
Also if anyone has any programs, info etc in fact anything to do with Saints to get in contact. We are in the process of gathering as much info as we can on Saints for a new website.

UPDATE: this in from Donald Wilson:

'Sorry to hear St Ninian have lost their league flag. I was an official with the club at the time the changing rooms were built by Tullochs of Nairn. Sandy Tulloch, who was our Chairman for a while donated the flag as a gift and it was unfurled when we opened the changing rooms in March 1983 - a bitterly cold day if I remember.
The flag incorporated our league wins of 1975-76, 77-78,78-79 and 81-82 if my memory serves me correctly.
It was a great period in the clubs' history and Davie Johnstone was manager during the last three title winning seasons.
The changing rooms cost nearly £25,000 to build and they replaced the old stables which were used by Indian soldiers who were billeted at the Showfield during the Second World War. We secured a 21 year lease from the farmers and got grant assistances from the Highlands and islands Development Board, Highland Regional Council and Nairn District Council. I certainly hope it turns up. It's part of the football history of Nairn and commemorates the achievements of the club and its players who received no payment but played for the shirt.'
