Just means different rats will be zooming through the west end on their way to and from the golf, mind you its a difficult junction to pull out of, I would have thought it would have been better to make it one way the other way round with that as the entrance
Bang goes my conspiracy theory. Oh well, there will be another one along soon.
Noticed the cones are out in Albert Street & Seabank Road,& The West Golf Club has a small car park so wonder where all the vehicles will park this weekend for The Curtis Cup.Ps a wee birdie told me that The Nairn Pipe Band were asked to play on finals day, but had to decline as they could not muster enough members to form a band,& that The Inverness British Legion Pipe Band will play instead, & to think that Nairn had 2 Pipe Bands just a few years ago.
What is the duration of the Curtis Cup? I miss my rat run!
Now all the West residents have to do is arrange a series of golf events and they get their road closure by stealth, clever work!
its a bloody disgrace,,we all pay our road tax ,so should be able to use the road, stuff the golfers,,,narook
Agree with 10.10am - if you have upto date road tax, MOT and insurance then there is NO REASON WHATSOEVER why you shouldnt be able to use these roads. The traffic lights are a disgrace, it shouldnt take 20 mins to get from one side of Nairn to the other, and thats if you are luckyI am a so called "rat runner" and will continue to be while I am LEGALLY allowed.
@10:10You don't pay road tax you pay VED, a tax on the privilege for you owning a car. Roads are paid for by general taxation. So to be honest, if a sporting event which brings a few thousand people to Nairn, which ultimately benefits the local economy, raises the profile of the town by being shown on the likes of Sky Sports inconveniences you; well tough!
The traffic lights are not the problem, the real hold-ups are in the same places they always were, Leopold St junction and Lochloy Road junction - it's just that with the new lights the queues are slightly staggered. I don't mind missing my rat run for a few days for the sake of an event which is great for the town !
The problems are caused by some drivers wanting to turn right out of Waverly or Wellington Road. This causes tail-backs, it would be better if they went down Leopold Street. Solution would be a by-pass but we been hearing about that for years.
