Armed Forces Week - Nairn 2012

Thanks to Murray MacRae for these pictures of the ceremony on the High Street today and the image of Angela and Gordon Veitch being presented with a cheque for £546 for the Chernobyl Children's fund on the behalf of the Royal British Legion Nairn Branch

I wonder if anyone else noted the unfortunate choice of location for the ceremonial party to stand?

With the armed forces suffering a constant succession of cuts, it perhaps wasn't brilliant to have the dignitaries pose in front of "Nickel and Dime" (origin/definition of the phrase: to pay only a small amount of money, as in "a nickel and dime job", or to destroy something bit-by-bit as in "he nickel-and-dimed the project to death").

Maybe they should use the Bandstand for next year's ceremony?

It could have been worse, If the ceremonial party just moved along a little bit they would have been standing in front of " The Butchers ",PS while walking past the ceremony could not help noticing that they were no members of Her Majesty Forces present, & only one member of The Seaforth Club in attendance.

Let's not forget that the RAF has been butchered too and in the past servicemen and women from Kinloss have come to Nairn for such events.
