Little auks seeking shelter from the bad weather.

Birder Nick found an exhausted Little Auk near the Golf Course and it is now on its way to the SSPCA.

Quite a few have been found on the east coast too: "Scottish SPCA has rescued several little auks from Perth, Dundee, Carnoustie, Arbroath, Lunan and Rait. Six of the auks were rescued on Sunday night."

More on this Dundee Courier page.  The New Arc rescue centre in Ellon has also been taking them in.

My wife spotted one flying erratically over Clachnaharry near the entrance to the Caledonian Canal. I was looking the wrong way so I missed it. Doh!

There was one dead at Findhorn dunes (500m east from car park, bottom of the very large dune by the path, next to sea) over the weekend, no rings, so left it.
