I'd go straight to the top, many below that are only good at drawing their salaries

I understand that the concerns of many Nairn folk are well intentioned. As an ex Nairn resident I wouldn't want the shoreline or local wildlife to come to any harm. But I think many people are not aware of the huge amount of regulation surrounding this and the steps taken to avoid and mitigate risks. Nor do they appreciate just how vital this sort of activity is to our local economy and jobs. Also, have we all forgotten that the Beatrice oil field has been producing for decades and STS transfers are nothing new in the firth? The Port Authority has published this document, which I think addresses many of the concerns. I wouldn't want to tell folk what to think, or to be too critical of their views, but I think in the interests of balance folk should have a shifty at this first: http://www.cfpa.co.uk/Ship-to-Ship.aspx

Cheers and have a nice weekend all.

STS transfers in the Cromarty Firth have all taken place at the jetty in Nigg not in the open water. What will happen to the jobs at that jetty (40?) if this moves to the open water of the Moray Firth.
Of course read that document if you wish but after that take a look at some of the articles on this section of the Cromarty Rising site.
