Provosts reports fire in the Culbin but fire brigade delayed by locked gate

The Gurn understands that Liz came across a fire in the Culbin whilst out walking today and alerted the fire brigade. It seems the fire engine arrived quickly but was unable to access the locked gate at Lochloy and the fire crew had to walk to the scene of the fire with back packs which took a considerable amount of time.

Being a retired fireman I know the fire brigade have the ability to force the locks!!

Bloody hell remind me not to lock my doors at night if they dont even carry a set of bolt croppers. Or is this cutbacks in action?

The firebrigade obviously did the best they could with the lack of priority resources they need to get the job done. As for not cutting the lock Liz was out walking for all they knew she could of been at risk. should all fires not be put out quickly whatever the situation May occur?

I reckon it would have been fairly obvious that she was not at risk as she was speaking to the firemen.

Fair point Woody, yet the thought of safety (regardless) was being considered and a lock can easily be replaced. Firefighters must have access at all times when fire is present.
