County cupcake - Picture

Ashers Bakery wishing Nairn County all the best this Saturday. It promises to be a cracking final with the Wickers (now top of the Highland League) coming down for what will probably be one of the finest afternoons in this season's calendar.
To avoid delays at the Grant Street Park gate you might want to buy tickets in advance. They are available  from MacRae's Travel on the High Street.

Hopefully a full house then and a great advert for the Highland League.
We'll be fired up on cup cakes and Conor will probably get a hat-trick out of it.

An insider at the Nairnshire Telegraph's sports desk tells me that Wick are the slight bookies favourites. Some mistake there this observer thinks. Wish I hadn't brought the wife a ticket now and put another £8 on Nairn instead.

How many are employed at The Nairnies sports desk?

@ Willy fae Watten

You're forgetting Willy that in Nairn we are hardy folk with strong constitutions who have no problem digesting the likes of cake, even with icing, and the towns fine bakers means many of us have been weaned on the stuff as bairns

Now Wickers are known as the 'cheesy chippers' and unlike our fine cake your local delicacy would slow our team down, so as someone said, 'let them eat cake' and maybe you should follow our example if you want to stand a chance of even drawing this match

This’ll be one of the few occasions when the Dirty Wickers and Thurso folk might even travel on the same bus together. It’s sounds as if half of Caithness is coming to the final and it promises to be a great occasion for the county. Wick have been a credit to the far north and it’s great to have two Highland League sides of such quality in the final. In the past the North Cup may have been regarded as a Cinderalla trophy but not this year. On Saturday we will see two of the league’s top teams knocking spots off each other going by their scoring exploits so far. Nairn are enjoying one of the finest periods in the club’s history. Hopefully the fans will turn out in force, cheer on Les and the lads, and they will keep their bandwagon rolling. Can’t wait till the whistle blows! Spelding.

In yer dreams - as soon as Wick bairns can reach the counter cheesy chips is what they order

Not sure if you have bakers north of the Braes if you're having to eat raw meat at your table!

God almichty a hear even the gurn wifie is goin, is that richt?

Sorry Watten Willie but you can keep your Moray Cup and raw meat – ye canna whack a Nairn spelding washed doon wi a Brackla malt. An this spelding knows a wee bit about the habits of the Caithness fowkies having spent many a lock-in at the Marine Bar (sadly now no more) in Thurso in my youth. The Com too was a great haunt but I never tried the waterin holes of Wick.

@ Doubledecker the Gurn can confirm this rumour. Just been up to Uncle Bob's to buy the Gurn wifie the perfect birthday present too. A bus ticket to the other Station Park :-)
