Doreen's Christmas crie du coeur - Buy local!

Doreen sent a message to the Gurn:
"Let's buy Christmas presents from small local businesses and self-employed people.  For example, from your talented neighbour who makes cards, a local crafts-person making pretty jewellery, the stunning local florist's shop, the baker who makes great cakes or vouchers for a local salon or hairdresser.

Let's make sure that our money goes to Nairn people and not multinational companies.
This way, local people will have a better Christmas.  Support real people. This is a great way to show community spirit."

I'm a local person on a tight budget this Christmas and I'll be buying online for the kids few presents

No disrespect to Doreen but buying local costs money I haven't got

Its a great idea but some of us haven't got the money to shop local for Christmas

You need to be able to get to the shops after work, 6pm. No good staying open late for one night here and there by then people have started buying else where! (BA Humbug)

One thing I will do is try and buy what I can from one of the local Butchers!

I've been a very good boy this year and I've been tipped off that as long as that behaviour continues Santa will bring me some presents for Christmas

Apparently I've got to send him a list and I mustn't be too greedy, but I've no idea if Santa shops local or not?

I guess he does where he can as that would be less weight for him to carry

French is often the language of choice in Nairn. Often I have noted someone say 'excuse my French' and to be perfectly intelligible, ken?
