Yes it is an interesting title "nurture room" In these times of austerity there must be a pressing need for it however - whatever it is.

Really good news for Nairn - not just for Millbank - but for all Nairnshire's schools. Hope the attached link is of value!
Colin
"The Nurture Group Network describes a nurture group as a group of 6 to 10 children based in a mainstream educational setting and staffed by two supportive adults. They offer a short term, focussed, intervention strategy, which addresses barriers to learning arising from social, emotional and or behavioural difficulties, in an inclusive, supportive manner. Children remain part of their own class group and usually return full time within a maximum of 4 terms. At present, there are now more than 1000 nurture groups in the United Kingdom."

The strap used to sort us, £50K for a nurture room, world gone mad

What a good sense way to spend money providing a facility of this nature, for young children and families needing extra support, in an ever changing world. thumbs up.

And this morning I heard on Radio Scotland that HC is looking to cut the budget for children with additional needs

Do those in charge of budgets have the slightest clue as to what they're doing?

They'll probably build the nurture room and then have no monies for staff

Could getting the strap, of had something to do with that change? spending money is definitely more humane. :-)

£50K for a room, what are they doing, lining it with gold?

Have those responsible not heard of budget cuts

I'm all for looking after the bairns but this seems spending step too far

In Highland Council terms is this amount not classed as cheap.?Outwith in every day Joe bloggs terms the job could be done at a good knock down price and still have a good end result with money for extra resources.

Why don't you go to a Community Council meeting some time anon and ask the Highland Councillor present, there usually is one, just how it all works. This observer is no expert but when it comes to building works 50K just doesn't get you what it did a few years ago.

I fully understand the processes in place with the HC from employment in my past. I felt they try to do their best with what they have, but sometimes due to red tape and costings, common sense slips through the net

Think this money could be better spent in Milkbank by perhaps getting the chairs cleaned with bleach or something
