Playhouse opens Friday (3rd May) - new venue in Nairn's Church Street

It's been a long time coming as the building formerly known as the Social Club in Church Street has been lovingly and comprehensively transformed but it all reaches fruition on Friday night:

"The doors to the Play House will open to the general public from 8.00 pm till 1.00 am. We look forward to some great times ahead in our new venue and hope to see you all soon!!" Says a message on the Playhouse's facebook page.

Like many businesses and organisations in Nairn, the new venue is keeping its customer base informed via the social networks, you can keep up to date with Playhouse events here.

Another watering hole for them to spent their dole money in, just what we need.

It's either a very long time since you've bought a drink or been on the dole anon 7:56 (maybe both) but I doubt many folk on £53 a week will be blowing it at the Playhouse

A breath of fresh air - Nairn needs more people with good ideas like this, with the opening 'The Playhouse' they have created a number of jobs and injected something new into the town which is commendable, these guys have worked hard and put there all into the project which I hope becomes a complete success.

As Wendyhouse points out, on 53 quid a week I doubt people on 'The Dole' would be using such facilities, Im sure they will be concentrating on feeding, clothing and housing themselves.

Good Luck to The Playhouse, you deserve all the goodness that comes out of your great efforts.

Anon 7:56 - Roll with it, It happening and you can not do anything about it Im afraid.

Good luck to the new venture

It's interesting that many people seem to be calling this a nightclub, I thought it was supposed to be a sports bar? A previous planning application for a nightclub went to appeal but was turned down by the Reporter, so has something changed?

Going by the economics of the town I predict the new venture will close within a year, The Playhouse has the capacity to hold over 300 patrons, thats a lot of drinkers which it will never manage to attract on a regular basis, even the Inverness clubs are struggling at the moment, I would love to be proved wrong & wish Mr I Gordon & Co all the best of luck which they will certainly need.
