A stop-go system in operation on Mill Road today as the Council's contractor's tackle a large beech tree. Larger image here and another picture here.

From the photo that looks like a stop-stop system to me

There was a mannie up the tree, complete with ropes, safety equipment and a chain saw. He was going at a fair but restrained pace. That's the way it is these days, health and safety all the way, adds to the cost perhaps but no one will deny it minimises the risk of a motorist getting a sudden fright as a bit of tree comes through the roof.

All the road side trees must be surged very well because it can cause some traffic issues.
