Seagulls delay demolition of old bus station garage?

It has been rumoured for some time that the bus station garage was still intact because of nesting seagulls. The Gurn understands that this was confirmed at last week's meeting of West Community Council when Graham Kerr asked why the demolition planned for June of this year hadn't started yet. The councillors and the members of the public present were apparently astonished when Highland Councillor Colin MacAulay stated that he understood that the delay was to await the end of the seagull nesting season.
UPDATE: see comment from Colin, not confirmed - this story remains Urban Myth.

The Grey Goose is a protected species and they are currently culling thousands of them on Orkney. Mmmm food for thought !

I said that I had heard on the "Nairn grapevine" that the work had stopped because of the gulls. Not confirmed at all. As Gurn readers well know, the local grapevine can be frighteningly accurate on some occasions and wide of the mark on others!

I think goose is tastier than seagull. No surprise the gulls cannae be culled during nesting season. They have more rights than humans. They can shit on you, attack you, keep you awake all night, redecorate your car on a daily basis and the latest council leaflets on the subject are telling us shoot them if you want but it has to be controlled and you have to pay for it – talk about washing their hands of the biggest public nuisance which blights our town! Will be good to see the bus station come down though.
