Police remind of home security following a series of thefts in the Nairn area

Police in Nairn are reminding members of the public to be vigilant in respect of their home and vehicle security following a series of thefts in the area in recent weeks.
There have been a total of five thefts in the Nairn and Auldearn areas in the last two weeks, which Police are currently investigating, but are urging the public to take simple security measures to avoid further crimes of this nature.
Inspector Murdoch MacLeod, Commander for the Nairn area, advised: "There have been a series of thefts from homes in the area in recent weeks, which we are following active lines of enquiry in relation to, but I would appeal to the public to take extra care in ensuring their homes and vehicles are property secured as a preventative measure.
"Locking homes and vehicles, keeping keys and jewellery items out of sight and reporting anyone suspicious in your area can not only help avoid falling foul to perpetrators of this crime but can assist in Police enquiries in relation to these incidents.
"I would encourage anyone who notices any suspicious activity in their area to report it to us on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111."
