Farewell to Belle

Murd told the Gurn this evening: "Had to part with a faithful friend today. Belle and myself were constant companions as we walked around the river for the past 14 years and she will be sadly missed, not only by the family but all who got to know her over the years and enjoyed her friendly approach to all she met."

Well Murd and Kirsty, my sympathies over your loss, she was a lovely friendly dog and loved her river walks. regards Joe

Belle was a good old trouper who got on with everyone, human and canine. Will miss meeting her round the river. Pity the rest of us couldn't be like her.

A dog. In life the firmest friend. The first to welcome; foremost to defend.

Was Belle the dog whom I often saw outside the harbourside cafe with her tennis ball? Due to the camber of the pavement, the ball would slowly accelerate towards the road. Belle would tirelessly amble over, pick up the ball and release it under the outdoor seats. This cycle would be repeated ad infinitum. It made me smile; she was such a sweet old thing. Her fond memories remain.

Belle was usually on the upper river beat with Murd anon - occasionally down by but don't know if they ever stopped at the cafe.
