Lenticular cloud above Nairn today (4th January)

A good display of lenticular cloud this evening over the Showfield. More images here.  For the past two days this sort of cloud formation has been visible over the town and the Moray Firth although sometimes they have been obscured by lower cloud. If the mild weather continues perhaps they'll be more tomorrow. Lenticular clouds are not rare in this area and sometimes they can be amazingly spectacular as the image below  captured  01.09.99 shows. September 2010 was also a good month for lenticular clouds as these images here from JingleBangles show.
