Whats the point? If its like the wind farms or Invergordon incinerator and the people say "no," the Scottish Government will over rule that and say "yes" anyway!Isn't that how Scottish democracy works now?
Dearie me, you can see as to why the 'Bitter together' campaign is sometimes dubbed that if some folk are of the attitude that democracy is now lost under our Scottish government. I have to remind Anon 5:45 that we voted them in by an overwhelming majority at the last elections, and many of us are still very happy with the work they're doing. Just look at the current Westminster government if you have any doubts, which would you rather have, and indeed which one would you prefer to have power in the future?
To anonymouse 5:58- definitely WESTMINSTER
@Anon 5:58Not everyone's a TORY (thank goodness), and still more pandas in Scotland than Tory MPs!
Westminster is a laugh, and with the amount of money London gets over anywhere else in the country. Don't make me laugh.
Anonymous 5:58The Invergordon Incinerator:The people said NO.Their democratically elected council said NO.Our democratically elected SNP government OVER-RULED every one and said YES!I would trust Westminster long before I would trust the SNP. With the way they have been going, it will be an autocratic, nationalist dictatorship.Without resorting to standard political evasiveness, please justify the behaviour of "our" government in sticking it's fingers up the Highland people. And Gurn, maybe if the Highland Council didn't have to spend hundreds of thousands of pounds fighting to maintain the opinions and decisions of the Highland people, maybe Nairn would have all those things you keep asking for, bridges, flower beds etc?
NHS ReformsPatients said NO Health staff said NO The democratically elected government ignored everyone and said YES Goodbye NHS And Anon 10:27 trusts them?!
"I would trust Westminster long before I would trust the SNP"Do you trust Westminster over the decision to go to war with Iraq?
Anon 10.27Do you think that Central Government in any country in the UK - or in the world - doesn't over-rule Local Government from time to time?Do you think that there are no incinerators in Englandshire?Do you think that there are no windfarms in Ireland or Wales or Cornwall?
"I would trust Westminster long before I would trust the SNP. With the way they have been going, it will be an autocratic, nationalist dictatorship."@Anon 10:27No it won't. A yes vote and independence would mean that Scotland would have Scottish political parties standing at the first elections, not Westminster ones. We would no longer be under the thumb of either the Tories or Labour as we have endured them for years. Scotland has been dictated to by Westminster for centuries, time to cut free
