One of our regular readers, Ian M, sent us the following screenshot of the Traffic Scotland online roadworks map. There is no roadworks icon shown in Nairn but if you click the one at Tornagrain the information shown below shows up.
The Gurn tried the map this morning and got the same result - map is available here. Ian also reports he is having difficulty finding any mention of the works here or here. Ian adds however: "But the site might be up to date because the traffic jam has melted away." Any gurnites aware if the situation has improved now?
All of yesterday the Traffic Scotland site (the one you mention) was reporting as per the picture, ie., "no delay time" when in reality it was 45mins!
As I write this having just been up the road there is no jam or traffic! Couldn't see to Bridgemill too see if the work has finished or not.
Unbelievable that Traffic Scotland can't even place a simple icon on a map and get that right!
I'm sure your recent observation and comment might be of use to many of us if you just said as to where 'up the road' might be!

The fact I state "couldn't see to Bridgemill" suggests I was in was in close-ish proximity to it (Bridgemill)on the A96.
If you want actual roads I was walking on King Street (A96) from the mini roundabout (Fishertown), on my way up to the Co-Op opposite the Fire Station.

No it doesn't (see my name) you could have been anywhere

Thank you, that was all we needed to make sense of your original post
Unfortunately the traffic problems will continue as they can not find the gas leak. As of 5 o'clock tonight, they were back filling and taring the original hole and moving onto the other side of the road to test dig there.
We don't want traffic delay maps.
We dont' want traffic delays.
We do want Scottish Gas to deploy their contractors/workers and get the gas leak sorted and the road fully opened.
Stop taking the ****

"No it doesn't you could have been anywhere"
I like to credit people with a basic understanding of language & common sense. Why would one state that I "couldn't see to Bridgemill" if I was "anywhere" other than within close-ish proximity to it (Bridgemill)? If I was "anywhere" that was not within close-ish proximity to Bridgemill it's going to be plainly obvious that you can't see to Bridgemill!
At least I have the guts to put my real name to my posts and not hide behind a "aren't I funny" made up name!
Thanks for that David, with that no more communication please on David's vantage point and observations thank you.
