Academy clean could cost tens of thousands

The Highland News has done a follow-up on the asbestos scare at Nairn Academy. It seems the clean-up will cost tens of thousands and the paper says that there was no insurance cover. More details here.

Does Highland Council have any choice other than mopping up the asbestos as best it can or closing the school?
As had been discovered a new building if agreed would be many years away and meanwhile there are a pupils in Nairn who need their education.
Alternatives just don't seem to be there at the moment.
