Nice photos. I expect the Nairnshire will fill a couple of pages with blurred copies of their photos this coming week, the Gurn is where it's at in the Nairn media world

45p,for a wee paper thats full of adverts,we are so bloody gullible to buy it,it should be a monthly paper,or put it online and get it free

This observer read recently that Scottish Newspaper sales were down 8% on the year on year figures up to June.
I suspect that the Nairnshire Telegraph will buck that trend however.

Anyone reading this has access to the internet and will know how appealing on-line news is compared to newsprint.
For the most part the Gurn makes a much better job of coverage of any event where photos can convey so much compared to The Nairnshire Telegraph, just by sheer volume if nothing else.
I still but The Nairnshire, but many weeks I've already read the news in The Gurn.
Mr Bain sometimes manages to write interesting Leaders, but The Gurn also produces thought provoking comment (usually with comments switched off!)
I do honestly wonder when I drag the 45p out of my pocket each week for The Nairnshire as to why I'm doing this. Supporting an institution, to see who's deed, to read the adverts placed by Trades that you can never get hold of when you need them?
I suspect that The main Nairnshire Telegraph readership has reached senior years and that it doesn't have much of a younger audience. Maybe it will continue until such time as retirement finally appeals to the editor, or it's bought out by a larger concern.
If the Gurn carried BDM's I suspect that it wouldn't be long before one death announcement would be The Nairnshire Telegraph. Until such time I will continue hand over my hard won cash for the two minute silence (on a good week!)

Its time for Really to go to Specsavers if he finds the photos in The Nairnshire Telegraph blurred, as an old compositor who now retired I always like to defend The Old Nairnie when you think what a packet of fags or a pint cost 45p is not a lot to pay & the adverts help to cover costs & keep persons in employment, no one forces you to buy the paper, but as someone who keeps a eye on how the newspaper industry is doing Craisg is correct in his statement regarding sales but the Nairnshires sales have bucked the trend & more copies than ever are being sold, but technology is changing & this is where the internet has the advantage as it can update by the minute prime example is the excellent photos by The Gurn from The Nairn Farmers Show,The Nairnshire is not published till a Monday evening & its restricted to how many pages it can publish, but there is still a long standing tradition on a Monday night for the locals me included to park on Leoplold Street & eagerly wate for the delivery of the Nairnie, as a local Loon who loves Nairn I would find it sad if this was to end just like The Sea Scouts,The Sunday School picnics,The Home Holiday Week,The Nairn Gala,Rose Brothers,The Harbour Street post office, Morgantis Ice Cream, Berties Chip Shop,Mackintoshs Lemonade Factory, Taylors Fishmomgers,Singers Store,Heards Ironmongers,Clovies Sweetshop, Clair the Barber,Branders the Grocer, Jack Fraser Grocer,The Regal & Playhouse cinema, The Ballerina Ballroom, Ronnie Watsons,Gauls Toyshop,to name just a few.

Have you got an exclusive swiss dinbgbats? & can you supply a date when The Nairnshire Telegraph will cease publication & who supplied you with this information.

dingbats is probably on about the dead tree media generally Mr Hack. (Scottish Newspaper sales down 8% over the 12 months to June it appears) Again this observer is confident the Nairnshire is capable of bucking that trend.

Aye, the new fuzzy colour photographs should fair increase circulation of the two minute silence

Nice photos but sadly none of the kids crafting stuff or of the craft marquee which had at least 8 local businesses inside...

If anyone has pictures of the kids crafting or the marquee then we'd be delighted to post them on the Gurn flickr pages too.
