Yorkshire Building Society Nairn Branch closing down

A sign on the window informs the public that the office is closing on Tues 31st of July at 5.p.m. and will not re-open. It goes on to inform customers that the nearest branch is in Inverness.

Funny thing is, the YBS are actually pretty good to their saver customers. Intrest rates on larger amounts on term deposit are usually competitive, unlike some High Street banks that I could name.

Once I had a smallish mortgage with the YBS, years ago, which I paid off early. The manager invited me into his office, and asked if I would like to borrow even more next time. 'We like to keep our regular customers' he said.

When was the last time that a manager of another lending institution was so pleasant to anyone else?

Nothing to do with this but does anyone know of anyone that was or is related to the Maclean family that lived in Balblair Road Nairn. My Gt.Grandfather Alexander Maclean was a Master Carpenter and Builder, and have just recently found a photo of him with my Gt.Grandmother which came all the way from Canada from his other Gt.Granddaughter. There were 11 children and Alexander Maclean's Mother was Ann McQueen who married Hector Maclean from Ardclach a Shoemaker.
