Its not gonna happen in Nairn this decade! Unlike previous internet "upgrades" which utilised existing cabling to consumers, Infinity will require a mass installation of fibre to each household. As usual, BT will concentrate its limited investment in highly populated areas which will yeild a larger potential financial return. Nope, not gonna happen! However, 16 meg broadband (over 2 times BT speed) is currently available in Nairn.

People really ought to sign up and vote for this. Locals companies and home users need a decent line. C'mon people.

Michael - actually you're wrong on this one. The BT Infinity product is actually Fibre to the Cabinet which means that the fibre optic cabling only goes as far as the green street cabinets & the remainder utilises the existing copper wiring to the premises, although there are some places (mainly new build estates) that are getting full Fibre to the Premises. To be honest, this is the same thing that BT did with the initial ADSL roll-out - they figured out where the areas of most demand were by simply asking the people themselves. It's fantastic marketing because BT only then target areas with an actual demand, and other areas simply should have demanded louder. So I hope you've registered your vote on the site because I have and I urge everyone else too as well!

My apologies Rob, my experience with fibre has been direct to the consumer, you obviously have insider knowledge ;)
Personally I have no interest in Infinity, Somerfield will become Tesco before it arrives here! Anyway, Nairn has LLU with consistantly faster speed than BT can offer and without the severe drop at peak times. Cheaper too.
