Good acoustics?

Thanks to Jamie Walker for this picture of someone practising their bagpipes under the riverside railway bridge. Picture will enlarge.

Oh yeah

I walk the dog along there and the sounds of foot-steps and flowing water are amazing

The other night, my neighbour chapped on my door at two o'clock in the moning. Can you believe it, two o'clock.
Luckily I was still up practicing my bagpipes !

I always reckon my trumpet is a good time piece. No matter how late it is I can stand at my back door playing and some kindly neighbour will always open their window and enquire with words such as 'Oi, who's playing that ******* trumpet at 10 past 4 in the morning', but I can see bagpipes might be better for this task

There are some very interesting acoustics with this bridge. You can be standing on one side of it and can clearly hear people who are on the other side, almost although they are standing next to you. When you walk under it there is a point where the sound from one side flips and you hear the sound from the other. Try it next time you're under the bridge. This may involve some pacing back and fore so you might want to wait till there is no-one around!tr
