The state of repair

Pupils, staff, and parents of Nairn Academy have been only too aware of the poor state of the building which has even led to a call for the school to be rebuilt. As the Gurn reported there is a Facebook group calling for this with 79 members.
Audit Scotland has found that the Academy is not alone in the Highlands in terms of public buildings being in disrepair; across Scotland there is a maintenance backlog of at least £1.4 billion.
A freeze on Council tax has not helped the coffers but clearly a great number of council buildings are in poor shape and cutting back on repairs will only exacerbate the problems for the future.
