Football Tourism

After the match had finished at Station Park yesterday we spotted Chirs and his wife Lydia taking a picture at one of the "We Believe" boards. The couple are Merstham FC fans, the Surrey team play in the Ryman Div 1 south. They have been planning their break in the Highlands for several months and have been following Nairn's progress. They flew in from Gatwick and headed straight for the game before even thinking about going to the holiday let in town. They were very impressed with their experience at Station Park and the facilities and thought County played to a very high standard. Chris was having his picture taken by his wife for a page on the Merstham website where images of  club scarves are shown from various locations all over the world.

Another "groundhopper" was also reported to be at Station Park yesterday, there seems to have been an increase in such visitors since Nairn's run in the Scottish Cup. The Wee County has played some big games at home this season  and this has helped bring people into town as well on match days. The feel good factor generated this season has been good for the community too. County still have three games left in this campaign and will play their hearts out for pride now and the chance of an impressive third place finish but already thoughts are turning to next season and the possibilities that will offer.
