Here at the Gurn we have a long tradition
of reporting news that will be unpopular with the authorities. We first spoke out in 2005. In 2009 we didn’t hesitate in making the public aware of the threat that returned to the river ( a similar danger lurking in the same area and also in early May). We know there could be a
potential knock on effect on visitor numbers but we cannot stand idly by as
visitors stroll the banks of the river unaware of the danger lurking only feet
away. Tonight we again publish an image that tells the uncomfortable truth.
The Gurn calls on Nairn politicians of all flavours and of none to move swiftly and resolve this situation. We can't keep this one under the covers anymore. Perhaps some of the 30 billion pounds earmarked for the bypass could be used to hire a helicopter that could drop a cage on the mattress which could then be rescued and returned to a more appropriate environment.

Makes the river look so untidy.Never mind the people on holiday what about the people who live here ?.
Is your attempt at humor just going to encourage the brain deads to do this again ?.
There's nothing worse than an untidy river, water splashing about, ducks randomly floating on it, and to crown it all we now have the killer mattress looming large. I hope no-one gets hurt trying to capture it, with the current high tides it could end up on the beach where it will pose and even greater risk, half buried in the sand waiting for an innocent passerby.
Could this be a new breed of Mattrescovies come in from the west
end, with the intention of establishing a new sleeper cell on the lower river.

It was someone living here on the riverbank near swan Island. Bless the hobo who has said farewell to his homeless home!! Probably has less flees than the pigeons & ducks tho!! Infact the ducks are now calling it home, it gives them a good spring to get a good 'lift off'!! Well, I think it is good we can have a sense of humour unlike some grumps! I will maybe take a wade in later if it is a nice night... sorry Í dont think it can be re-homed as I believe it has now sadly drowned with the high tide.... :o.
