Working the High Street today - The "Better Together" crew

A well-kent face at the Unionist Better Together stall outside the Courthouse today. Badges ballons and spoof one-way tickets to independence were available. Oor Graham says he is all for full devolution but not independence. His vision would see just about everything devolved to Holyrood. The few passers-by around 11.30 when this picture was taken were mostly polite. This observer was mistaken for one of the Together campaigners by one lady. I made my excuses and left at this point. As far as politics is concerned the Gurnmeister is most certainly a YES man but hey live and let live...

Graham told me he's heading back to England once his Nairn house is sold, so why the interest in Scotland remaining tied to the union?
Many English tories want to keep Scotland in, and that is so they can maintain the current status quo which means more money for them but not for Scotland or scots.
The UK media put a good spin on trying to frighten us to remain in the UK, but if you're really worried about finances voting Yes is the way, and we'll have a country where there's still an NHS and more pandas than tories

UKIP? Good lord. On the more important matter of Scottish independence. It's purely the fact the Scotland will have control over Scotlands assets and economy. For me it's nothing to do with this anti-London agenda. Its just I think Scotland should be run by who we vote for. Final note the only reason labour support Scottish is with independence they know they will truly struggle south of the border for a majority. Peace out!

You cann't have independence in Scotland while you are still ruled by Europe! Anyone with half a brain cell can see that .

'Run by who we vote for'

That is such an interesting point.

As a matter of interest who makes decisions about about people in the Highlands live? Presumably it is both the Scottish and the English and Parliaments but we only get to vote for a certain number of MP / MSPs in both cases.

I have heard people complain that Scotland focuses too much on the central belt. How would independence rather than devo max impact on the lives of us here in Highland? Even if we were given all the money in the world how could we be sure that we would get the best education? A great health service? What about environmental issues? Are windfarms the way forward? And what about the Euro?

so many questions I do not know the answer to

Britain is hardly "ruled" by EU. This is just a load of right-wing tosh in an attempt to bring the Tories back to the right. I will admit the EU is terribly bureaucratic and inefficient, but overruling? No.

However I agree with the gentleman/lady about distribution of powers somewhat leaning in favour of the central belt. However I would hope that a vote for independence would give more of a mandate for more regional powers. Peace Out!

There were just 4 negative comments from the many folk who accepted the leaflets we were handing out.

I am keen Scotland makes as many decisions about uniquely Scottish affairs as possible, that makes sense. I oppose separation as i just don't agree that this would be best for Scotland or the UK - that's my view, I respect others' views!

To answer 'Yes''s comment about me selling my house, I am heading to Cornwall once the house sells, but that's because my (grown-up) children and grandchildren are there, otherwise I would stay here.

I wonder if Graham will be making use of one of the no campaigns one way tickets then?

I hope he makes regular visits - he's always good for a few minutes political craic.

v been living down there for the last 3 years and havent seen a single rat. if you're in an urban area you are no more than a few feet from a rat at any given time, is the council going to deal with the rats all across town? the rats have a right to live there as well. Speaking of vermin, when are the council going to do something about the seagulls or indeed, the seemingly endless stream of...(Edited, don't think we can say that anon but if you can provide statistics etc.)

We are told what we are allowed and what we are not allowed to do by the EU. Every way you look there will be something about some poor souls human rights being breached, prisoners right to vote whether or not its legal to reduce alcohol prices etc etc etc...
