Signpost community event- free entry - Saturday 10th March 2012, 12-4pm

Signpost (a new company formed from the merger of Volunteering Highland, CVS Nairn and CVS Inverness) are holding another ‘Celebrating the Community’ event similar to that held in November 2009. This is an ambitious exhibition being held in the Nairn Community & Arts Centre on Saturday 10th March 2012, 12-4pm, and will be officially opened by Karla Bernardi, a local singer, who beat off the competition from 9000 hopefuls to reach the live Grand Final of Open Mic 2012 competition which was held at The O2.

Admission is free.

The whole of the Nairn Community Centre will be being used, with over 40 local charities, groups and organisations in attendance. Groups will be providing demonstrations, displays and information and can also to do some fundraising.

There will be something for all ages, including teenagers who are providing a display in the Youth Café. Entertainment will come from local musical groups, and refreshments with tasty bites will be available.

Ailene Cameron and Lizbeth Main of Signpost are still looking for community groups who have not been contacted so far to take part. Although stands (cost £5) are being snapped up pretty quickly there will be another way for groups to get involved. If they are unlucky not to get a stand or cannot attend on that day, A3 poster can be made showcasing the organisation and hung around the walls of the Community Centre. To display your artwork will cost about £3 (to cover the cost of desk top publishing and laminating).

The afternoon is all about showing how we can all come together and making people aware of what community groups have on offer.

For more information please contact Ailene or Liz on 01667 455234 or email nairn@signpost-inc.org
